hostile environment services

HET services is designed to prepare individuals to operate in hostile and difficult environments. The course incorporates country briefings, cultural anomalies, security and situation awareness, weapons awareness, medical response and casualty assessment. Also included in the basic course will be instruction on contingency planning, navigation including the use of map and compass and global positioning systems, response to civil disturbance, riots and kidnap. There will also be overviews on mines awareness and unexploded ordnance.

The course is aimed at providing NGO’s with a grounding in operating safely in a hostile environment and making the client more aware of his or her surroundings. This is an essential start point for all new arrivals in a hostile environment and can be tailored to meet the needs of the individual or organisation.

As part of the HET services, one day will be spent on theatre induction services which will include intelligence updates, country political and geographic overviews, and specific regional medical and health & hygiene information.

Although mainly classroom based, there will be an element of practical services including vehicle check point (VCP) procedures, vehicle long journey preparation and practical medical scenario services.
